College/University Search Process

The college search process is a complex journey that is different for every student and family. We encourage you to sit down with family, friends, counselors, and teachers to decide what are the most important factors for you to consider. These could include the factors you see in the image to the right and many more.

It is important that you start this process early so that you can focus on the application and enrollment process during your senior year.

Once you have decided what is most important to you, please visit College Board's Big Future College Search Site. (there are definitely other sites as well) to assist you in looking at institutions that might be the best fit.

Connecting with Your Institution's Admissions Team

Most Institutions have an Office of Admissions to assist students through the enrollment process. Their job is to answer any questions you may have regarding their school (including student life, housing, admissions, scholarships, financial aid, and more).

We encourage you to connect with an Admissions Counselor from each College/University that you might be interested in (in some cases this can show demonstrated interest and help you get admitted!). We are lucky to have many College Admissions Counselors visit Pflugerville High School every year! Please visit the Representatives Visiting PHS link below to sign up for college visits at Pflugerville High School.

Keep in mind that many College Admissions Counselors live in the Central Texas area, but represent schools across the country. These folks may be available to meet you outside of PHS as well.

We have provided a contact list of our most common College Admissions Counselors below. Please note that this list is consistently being updated. It is in alphabetical order by institution. Please feel free to email Mr. Howell if you know a representative's contact information not included or if an institution needs to be updated.

Visiting a College/University Campus

Visiting a College/University campus can be one of the most promising way to find out if that institution is a great fit for your post-secondary experience. We encourage you to make sure you are taking an official visit during your time on-campus to get the full experience. Below, you will find some different opportunities that you might be able to take advantage of during an official visit. It is important that not every institution will offer all of these opportunities. We have also included a link that will help you find campus visit opportunities for some of our most visited institutions.
